Similar street names and several mall entrances can send companions to different places. Lands Department map and GeoAddress tools help check the address before sharing a precise meeting instruction.
What to have ready
Check the complete address first
GeoInfo Map provides Hong Kong mapping and location information for public facilities. GeoAddress Finder identifies a standardised location from a building, facility or address. Start with the address in an official appointment letter or the venue's own website rather than a shop's nickname. When results offer similar names, compare the district, street, number and map location separately. The first result is a candidate to inspect, not proof that it is the place named in your booking.
The tools bring together information from different government sources. An unsuccessful match does not prove that an address is nonexistent or unlawful. Try the Chinese and English building names or the street and number, then ask the venue to resolve the discrepancy. A GeoAddress is a useful shared location identifier, but your floor, unit or particular counter still needs to be specified. For an application or delivery, retain the full address in the format the receiving organisation requires.
Use maps, venue notices and land records for their own purposes
Before visiting a library, sports venue or government office, use the map to identify the organisation and then check that organisation's opening hours, appointment rules and closure notices. For walking, examine the real route, crossings and stairs instead of measuring a straight line. To report a public-service problem, include the address and a nearby landmark in your 1823 case, while also stating whether the defect is on the street, a bridge or in a subway.
Property searches, boundaries and legal rights require the relevant land records or professional assistance. A map screenshot does not replace them: Lands Department explains that boundary information may come from sources of varying accuracy and undergo revision. For a rental or purchase, use the map to confirm location and the Land Registry's procedure to obtain the relevant records. Keeping address identification, journey planning and legal checking as separate tasks prevents a convenient map from being treated as more than it establishes.
Confirm the location with government mapping and the visit arrangements with the venue.
