For a weekend plan, begin with the actual dates, companions and area, then search. HKTB's calendar helps you discover options; the organiser remains the source for tickets, capacity, opening and changes. This guide turns a search into a usable day plan, with an October 2026 example.
Before you go
Narrow the search by date and venue
Search HKTB's events page by today, this week or this month and venue. Record the full event name, year, venue and organiser for each promising result. A search engine's article date is distinct from the event date, while an exhibition running until month-end may have weekly closure days. Check your particular Saturday against the operating calendar and available sessions. Save a working official link alongside the poster so you can return to current information instead of relying on an old image.
Turn a result into a workable outing
As checked on 2 October 2026, HKTB announced that the International Lantern Spectacular displays continued until 7 October; some robot demonstrations had already finished in September. For a lantern visit, check that evening's lighting and queue arrangements rather than adding concluded performances to the plan. Admission routes and crowd controls can change. Reopen the event page before leaving, and give the group a meeting point outside a congested entrance if members arrive separately.
A useful family plan might contain an early meal nearby, one main activity, a toilet and rest stop, and a latest departure time. These are planning choices rather than a published event timetable. Keep an unconfirmed booking as a candidate instead of building non-refundable meals or transport around it. Share the meeting point and return route with everyone. One confirmed activity and a relaxed nearby alternative usually make a clearer itinerary than three distant venues with uncertain admission.
Make the final check on the day
Check weather warnings, organiser cancellation or postponement notices, and traffic changes separately. A warning alone does not explain a refund: consult the seller or organiser for your session. Keep the booking reference and messages for a paid event, and switch to a safe alternative if travel becomes unsuitable. Free admission can still involve registration or queues. Allow time for both entry and dispersal, and avoid treating a free listing as guaranteed immediate access for your whole group.
Use date searches to find options, organisers to confirm sessions, and a nearby alternative to keep the day manageable.
