For a Shenzhen online task, identify the actual service before checking whether iShenzhen offers a route for your status. Do not change to a mainland household or another identity category merely to pass a form.
What to have ready
Before you start
Shenzhen's 2023 official guidance describes iShenzhen verification with Hong Kong/Macao travel and residence permits, related services and counter assistance. This establishes the published service route, not today's number of functions or universal support for a newer non-Chinese document. Check the actual service guide's applicants, evidence and receiving authority. Successful account verification does not itself establish social-insurance, medical, housing or another entitlement; eligibility remains specific to the requested task.
What to do, step by step
- Use Shenzhen's official portal to locate the app or task and record the responsible department, district and eligibility. Avoid advertisement-led downloads or an agent's unrelated verification page when official entry is available.
- Verify with your own phone and actual document, matching name and expiry. If a newer document or face check fails, preserve the error and request official support instead of repeatedly entering another document category.
- Read the individual service guide for evidence, originals and submission route and complete accurate information. Preparing or saving an incomplete form is useful but should not be recorded as a formally accepted application.
- After submission, retain the reference and inspect acceptance, document requests and outcome. For delay or an unavailable online route, take originals and the error to the responsible department or relevant Hong Kong/Macao counter.
Costs, timing, and things to check
App versions and service labels can change, so older screenshots are leads rather than current instructions. For a first application, establish the department's live guide before experimenting with unrelated functions that request sensitive information.
A Shenzhen route does not establish Guangzhou or Zhuhai requirements. Update residence, employment or document changes under each relevant service's process, since a profile edit alone may not change the underlying departmental record.
A practical example
A user verifies a permit in iShenzhen but a particular service still asks for residence evidence. The applicant reads that task's eligibility and supporting requirements and asks the department which proof is accepted. The verified account is not used as a substitute for eligibility and a friend's address is not entered to avoid the requirement. Acceptance and final decision are then tracked as separate stages.
Check official entry, personal verification and task eligibility separately, and rely on the formal record for the outcome.
