Lo Wu/Luohu, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line/Futian Checkpoint, Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang, Shenzhen Bay and Heung Yuen Wai/Liantang are different routes. Futian Checkpoint is distinct from Futian high-speed station, while Shenzhen North is in Longhua. Cross-check Shenzhen's checkpoint guide with Immigration's Hong Kong list, particularly where passenger and goods-vehicle arrangements differ. Evaluate destination connections and the return alongside any displayed border waiting time.
What to do, step by step
- For Dongmen or central Luohu, compare Luohu connections first. For central Futian, compare the checkpoint with Futian high-speed arrival. For Nanshan or Shekou, separately assess Shenzhen Bay and the actual final leg.
- Check the complete Hong Kong journey, including the East Rail branch to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau. For buses or coaches, verify pickup, immigration procedures and luggage instead of copying a similar stop name.
- Confirm each person's permit or passport-based entry route. Allow for manual checks where necessary; another traveller's access to an automated channel does not establish your own eligibility.
- Choose a primary return crossing and workable backup, checking the day's opening and onward Hong Kong transport. Evening plans need Shenzhen metro, cross-boundary service and the journey home to fit together.
Costs, timing, and things to check
A twenty-four-hour goods-vehicle arrangement does not establish twenty-four-hour passenger clearance at Shenzhen Bay. Immigration's current page also lists Sha Tau Kok clearance as suspended, so an old travel account is insufficient.
Walking through a port, queues and vehicle changes can disrupt plans more than an extra metro stop. For older travellers, wheelchairs or strollers, compare routes that minimise luggage handling and have reliable lifts.
A practical example
A hotel is in Shekou, but friends usually cross at Luohu. Compare Shenzhen Bay's complete connection before following that habit. Returning through another crossing is possible only after checking everyone's documents and transport.
Choose by the Shenzhen destination, then verify connections and return on both sides.
