For Primary One or a school transfer, check dental enrolment, payment and appointment separately. Keep the year's school notice and confirmation so a previous year's participation is not mistaken for completion of the current year's requirements or transfer arrangements.
What to have ready
Before you start
DH's School Dental Care Service provides basic and preventive care for primary pupils, subject to the year's eligibility and enrolment arrangements. Online enrolment is fully implemented for 2026/27 using the school's exclusive link or QR code, with dental payment handled through the formal notice and e-payment route. Student Health Service and dental care have separate selections, charges and centres. For missed or supplementary enrolment, ask the school or designated dental clinic about the appropriate dental route.
What to do, step by step
- Obtain the current notice and exclusive link from the child's school and verify school, class and identity details. Check whether health, dental or both services are selected and review consent and contacts. Do not enrol your child through a friend's other-school QR code, because the school's identity and designated service arrangements matter to processing.
- Submit within the applicable window and keep confirmation. For late enrolment or corrections, ask the school and designated dental clinic about the current process. By October 2026, the usual start-of-school enrolment period has passed; do not copy last year's dates. A supplementary Student Health Service page should not be treated as completed dental enrolment without checking its separate instructions.
- After the formal dental payment notice, enter the e-payment service through DH's official website and verify the child, year, amount and service before paying. Save the receipt and check acceptance of enrolment and payment. A message sender label alone does not authenticate an unfamiliar payment page; school staff do not need the parent's banking credentials to confirm participation.
- Confirm the appointment, identity proof, accompaniment and health information through the school and clinic and check notices before attending. Use the formal update route for school, address or telephone changes and contact the clinic early for rescheduling. Payment is not attendance, and one visit should not be counted as completion of all treatment or follow-up recommended by the clinical team.
Costs, timing, and things to check
Basic school dental care, orthodontics, private treatment and kindergarten outreach are different arrangements. Ask about referral and charges for work outside the service's scope. Clinical staff assess individual need; joining the service should not be turned into a claim that any requested treatment is free, necessary or automatically scheduled without assessment.
For pain or an urgent problem, contact the designated clinic about the appropriate current route instead of simply waiting for the annual appointment. Check current charges and Eligible Persons conditions for dental care. A free-service statement about student health does not determine dental payment; retain each service's own confirmation and payment or eligibility record.
A practical example
A Primary One parent submits health and dental enrolment in September, verifies an October payment notice through DH's official route and keeps the receipt before checking the clinic appointment. On a November school transfer, the parent arranges the clinic update instead of assuming student health's free-service terms prove the dental payment notice must be false.
Use the current school link and confirm enrolment, payment and attendance separately.
