An older instruction to register first at a nearby MCHC may no longer fit. Check the current route for a first visit, existing follow-up, delivery hospital and postnatal service separately.
What to have ready
Before you start
DH and HA began phased integration of antenatal services on 6 July 2026. Phase one involves fifteen MCHCs and nine public hospitals. Phase two concerns Prince of Wales Hospital and three MCHCs in 2027, with the exact date to be announced. For phase-one new cases, HA obstetrics provides the first antenatal visit through hospital-specific procedures, including applicable BookHA applications in HA Go or an in-person route. Some listed hospital sites provide outpatient care without labour and delivery services. Identify the intended delivery hospital and the actual clinic before planning a journey.
What to do, step by step
- Use the current Family Health Service table and the intended hospital's instructions, with your residential address available. Do not substitute a friend's earlier registration route for the one serving your case.
- Prepare the hospital's requested pregnancy evidence or referral, identity, address and existing antenatal information. Check its exact documents and eligibility rather than assuming one clinic's list applies everywhere.
- Submit through the specified new-case channel and retain the reference and appointment notification. An uploaded application is not confirmation of a visit date, location or delivery booking.
- For an existing MCHC appointment, follow the original instruction or confirm directly with the responsible service. Let the clinical team explain the transfer and follow-up instead of cancelling or skipping it yourself.
Costs, timing, and things to check
Integration of antenatal care does not mean every MCHC has stopped its child or other services. Check antenatal, postnatal and child-health arrangements independently.
Take a health or urgent-care concern to a clinician or emergency service instead of waiting for administrative approval. Confirm eligibility and charges with the hospital before relying on an older fee estimate.
A practical example
A pregnant resident in Tseung Kwan O checks the 2026 integration table and designated obstetrics application route, then prepares the required evidence and address before submitting BookHA. Confirm the antenatal clinic and eventual delivery hospital separately. A listed outpatient location or new-case acknowledgement does not establish that a labour-and-delivery booking has been completed; ask what remains to be arranged and record the answer.
Use the 2026 route and confirm existing appointments with the responsible team.
